What Does
Allergology Deal With?
Allergology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases. The word allergy itself means hypersensitivity: an excessive reaction of the immune system to substances that under normal circumstances would not trigger any response from the body. Allergens can enter the body in various ways: through the respiratory tract, through the skin, and through the digestive tract.

What Symptoms Should Lead You to an Allergist?

What Diagnostic Methods Are Available?
During an allergological specialist examination, the doctor reviews the patient’s medical history, the medical documentation brought by the patient, and performs a physical examination. To establish an accurate diagnosis, if necessary, the allergist prescribes additional tests. The appropriate therapy can be developed – after establishing the diagnosis, with knowledge of all test results.
Allergen immunotherapy can change the triggering cause, the body’s excessive reaction. You will receive detailed information about the indication for immunotherapy and the implementation of the treatment at our Allergology Specialist Outpatient Clinic. If necessary, we ensure the initiation and follow-up of the therapy.
Important Information Before Allergy Prick Test
During allergy season, the causal investigation of allergies is possible from blood when taking anti-allergy medication, for which laboratory appointment scheduling is necessary. The so-called Prick skin test is performed personally by the allergist specialist doctor in order to identify the cause of the disease (allergen). The test can be performed after a 5-day medication discontinuation. However, medication discontinuation only applies to tablets; the use of eye drops and nasal sprays does not affect the examination. Therefore, if an allergological examination was recommended while on treatment, either wait for the end of the season and come for examination afterwards, or if your symptoms are manageable with nasal spray and eye drops, come to the allergist after a 5-day tablet discontinuation. Blood testing (IgE antibody examination) is also possible alongside medication treatment.
