Clinical Oncology and Pulmonology

When should you schedule a Clinical Oncology consultation?

  • If you or your relative has cancer or there is a suspicion of cancer.
  • If you have previously been treated or operated on for cancer and wish to consult about further treatment options.
  • If you are receiving or have received cancer treatment and wish to understand your test results.
  • If you seek a second opinion regarding the most appropriate treatment options for you.

What happens during a consultation?

Our aim is to provide the best possible treatment options tailored to the individual needs of each patient. During the consultation, you will meet with a clinical oncologist who will answer all your questions, explain the nature of your illness, and outline the available treatment options and chances for recovery. We will review and explain your test results (histology, endoscopic examinations, blood tests/tumor marker results, ultrasound, CT, and MRI scans) and perform a general internal medicine examination. The consultation will cover therapeutic options and possible side effects. We place emphasis on reviewing treatment alternatives based on international guidelines and explaining the benefits, drawbacks, and risks of the recommended treatment. If oncology treatment is not required, we will plan the schedule and process of regular follow-ups in detail.
